Bracelet of the Day: Flutter - Seafoam & Gold

FLUTTER BRACELET
  • 15/0 seed beads Miyuki "Duracoat Pewter" (4222)
  • 11/0 seed beads Miyuki "Duracoat Pewter" (4222)
  • 8/0 seed beads Miyuki "Duracoat Pewter" (4222)
  • SuperDuo beads "Bronze Gold"
  • 4mm fire polished beads "Aquamarine Celsian"
  • 4mm fire polished beads "Halo Ethereal Heavens"
  • 4mm druks "Fiesta Sage Green"

This is my favorite colorway of all of the "Flutter" bracelets I've made. The colors are similar to yesterday's bracelet but I used a combination of seed beads in two metallic colors this time. Read yesterday's post HERE. I wanted to use these gold SuperDuos and there aren't any seed beads that come in this color. But, for some reason they go quite nicely with the  pewter beads. I only know of one place to buy the gold SuperDuos and that's HERE on Etsy.

The "Flutter Bracelet" pattern is from Around the Beading Table and you can buy it HERE.

  2. Obviously with this design there are many ways of combining bead colours, like the alternating FP idea down the centre. Having started on the basic design I'm beginning to see where 'tweaks' can be made for variation.

    1. I think that alternating the colors helps define the motifs so that it doesn't just look like a long line of fire polished beads. Alternating the type of beads helps too. I also suggest playing with the position of the lighter color vs the darker color. It does seem to make a difference when you factor in the color of the SuperDuos which will be next to one of the colors. In this particular bracelet, using the lighter FP beads next to the SuperDuos makes the larger motifs stand out and the smaller motifs sort of fade into the background. Like I said, this helps define the shape of the motifs.

  4. How do you add the 15/0 seed beads to the top of the super duos?

    1. After making the basic motifs for the whole bracelet, I go back down each side and add an 8/0 bead just before the three SuperDuos, go through the first SuperDuo and seed beads, pick up the four 15/0 beads and go through the seed bead just before the third SuperDuo and the SuperDuo. Then I add an 8/0 bead on the other side of that last SuperDuo and go on through the beads along the edge until I get to the next group of SuperDuos and repeat.

Also, while making the basic motifs, I omit the two 11/0 beads that are added in Steps 6 and 16 and then again in Steps 17 and 20. Instead of adding those beads, just go through the hole in the SuperDuo with empty thread. Later when you add the 8/0 beads they will cover those empty holes in the SuperDuos.
